Google Meet
AI interview assistant for Google Meet
Meet interviews usually run in a Chrome tab. hCalls captures that tab’s audio, maps the question to your resume, and keeps coaching off the surface you share.
- Built around Meet-in-Chrome tab capture
- Phone companion when you present a window or the whole screen
- Do not share the hCalls dashboard tab
- 50 free credits - no credit card required
How hCalls works with Google Meet
Most Google Meet interviews happen in Chrome as a tab, not as a separate desktop client. That is why the Chrome extension is the default Meet path: it captures the Meet tab and your microphone as separate tracks, then streams transcripts and talking points to a paired phone.
If you join Meet from the desktop PWA or another browser, tab capture may not be available. Use phone companion with a web session, or the Windows desktop overlay, instead of forcing the extension.
Presenting a tab vs the entire screen
Google Meet can share a Chrome tab, a window, or the entire screen. If you present only the Meet tab, keep hCalls and your phone off that tab. If you present the entire screen, do not leave the hCalls dashboard visible - pair the phone companion or use a Windows overlay that supported sharing tools do not capture.
Always open Meet’s share preview before the interviewer joins. What you think is shared and what Meet actually sends are not always the same, especially with dual monitors.
When to use which mode on Meet
Chrome extension: Meet is a Chrome tab and you want tab audio plus answers on your phone.
Phone companion: you must present a window or the whole desktop and need talking points on a second device.
Web Copilot: practice, phone screens, or Meet calls where you are not sharing anything that would show the hCalls tab.
Windows desktop: live coding or IDE shares on Windows when you want an on-screen overlay rather than a phone.
Google Meet pre-call checklist
Run this in the same Chrome profile you will use for the interview.
- 1Join Meet in Chrome (not a random PWA) if you plan to use the extension.
- 2Install the hCalls extension and complete a 60-second test capture.
- 3Upload resume and paste the job description.
- 4Pair the phone companion and confirm talking points arrive there.
- 5In Meet, test Present now: tab vs window vs entire screen, and look at the preview.
- 6Close extra Chrome windows you might accidentally share.
- 7Confirm the interview rules allow external tools. If not, stop here and use hCalls for practice only.
How it works
- 1
Set up in Chrome before you join
Sign in to hCalls, start a session, and grant Meet-tab audio only when you are ready. Capture does not start just because Meet is open.
- 2
Join the Meet normally
Use the interviewer link. Keep hCalls off the presented surface.
- 3
Watch talking points on the phone or overlay
Glance, then look at the camera. Answer in your own words.
- 4
End the session when Meet ends
Stop capture from the extension or phone so audio is not processed after the call.
Best for
- Recruiter screens and panel interviews on Google Meet
- Candidates who interview in Chrome and can install an extension
- Screen-shared Meet calls where coaching should stay on a phone
- Practice Meet sessions before a high-stakes loop
Google Meet itself does not decide whether AI assistance is allowed - the hiring process does. Follow those instructions.

Everything You Want to Ask
Before You Buy
Setup, privacy, speed, and platform questions - answered directly.
Does hCalls work with Google Meet?
Yes. The usual path is the Chrome extension capturing the Meet tab, with talking points on a paired phone. Web Copilot, phone companion, and the Windows app are alternatives when tab capture is not the right setup.
Do I have to use the Chrome extension for Meet?
No. The extension is the simplest path when Meet is a Chrome tab. If you cannot install extensions, pair a phone with a web session or use a desktop app.
Can I use hCalls while presenting in Meet?
Only with a mode that keeps coaching off the presented surface, and only if the interview rules allow it. Present a Meet tab or a specific window rather than the entire screen when you can, and always check the share preview.
Does Meet live captions replace hCalls?
No. Captions help you read the question. hCalls uses the question plus your resume and job description to structure a response.
Is live AI allowed in my Meet interview?
That depends on the employer and the meeting. If assistance is prohibited, use hCalls to rehearse before you join.
